FORMER PUCKMASTERS COACH WINS NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH BOSTON COLLEGE
Former Puckmasters coach and Junior Bruin alumni participate in NCAA Frozen Four.
MARLBOROUGH, MA: The No. 3-ranked Boston College Eagles won the fourth NCAA title in the school's history, claiming a 5-0 victory over the No. 2-ranked Wisconsin Badgers in front of a world indoor attendance record crowd of 37,592 fans Saturday (April 10).
Puckmasters of Marlborough was well represented as former Junior Bruins players Edwin Shea and Ben Smith were members of the National Champion Eagles. Patrick Alber, a former coach at Puckmasters of Marlborough, also played on the Junior Bruins team that does it’s off ice training at Puckmasters. The two teams previously met in the NCAA National Championship game in 2006, when Wisconsin defeated the Eagles by a 2-1 final in Milwaukee, Wis. With the win, Boston College avenges the loss and evens the slate, 2-2, when the teams face each other in the NCAA tournament.
Connor Knapp, former Boston Junior Bruins net minder, also participated in the NCAA Frozen Four in Detroit for Miami University (OH). Connor led the Red Hawks to a 29-8-7 overall record posting a save percentage of .921% and a goals against average of 1.87 and four (4) shutouts.
