Puckmasters Announces 2004 Spring & Summer Calendar of Events
Slate features an affordable clinic for every age and ability.

Marlborough, MA: Puckmasters Marlborough, the first synthetic ice hockey training center of its kind in the Metro West area, has announced its 2004 Spring and Summer Calendar of Events. The slate includes an affordable clinic for every age and ability. It boasts beginner to elite and mite to adult programs, off-ice strength and speed training, position specific training, a ?girls only? program, a premier three-on-three league, and the highly touted shooting clinic.
TOTAL HOCKEY IMMERSION
Headlining the calendar is Puckmasters? ?Total Hockey Immersion.? This full four-day clinic is jam-packed with everything hockey. Participants will begin each day with training on Puckmasters? synthetic ice, followed by classroom instruction and video analysis, off-ice strength & speed training, and on-ice work at the nearby New England Sports Center. Topics to be covered include shooting, stick-handling, offensive tactics, defensive tactics, skating, checking, nutrition, and off-ice training. Each participant will receive ample feedback including an individual video consultation which details his or her strengths and necessary areas of improvement. Each player will also receive a t-shirt, jersey or hat. In addition to full hockey gear, students should bring lunch, as well as sneakers, shorts, and a street-hockey stick (for off-ice training).
Cost for the clinic will be $450 for Puckmasters Members and $500 for Non-Puckmasters members. There will be two sessions offered, with the Mite and Squirt division offered Monday July 19th through Thursday July 22nd, and the PeeWee, Bantam, and Midget division offered from Monday August 2nd through Thursday August 5th. It will run from 10 am to 6 pm. Space will be limited to 20 skaters. Goalies are welcome and will receive a reduced rate. For details, contact Puckmasters Marlborough.
Puckmasters is also offering five four-day, two-hour position or player specific clinics, a weekly Adult Skills clinic, a weekly shooting clinic (three separate age brackets), a weekly Learn to Skate and Play Hockey Clinic (two sessions), a ten session (two nights a week for five weeks) April Tryout Tune-up, a premier three-on-three league, and a high school off-ice strength and speed training program (three eight-week phases). Two-Hour, Four-Day, One-Week Clinics (Monday through Thursday)
April Vacation Speed & Acceleration Clinic
Dates: April 19-22
Time: Mite & Squirt 9-11 am; PeeWee, Bantam & Midget 12-2 pm
Description: This clinic will combine on and off-ice training to achieve maximum speed! Students will utilize the Puckmasters synthetic ice which inherently provides resistance training for its users. Students will also get an introduction to plyometrics as a means towards improving explosiveness on the ice.
Cost: $150 for Puckmasters Members, $175 for Non-Puckmasters Members
Defensemen?s Clinic
Dates: June 21-24

Shooting Clinics (Two, Eight Week Sessions)

Learn to Skate & Play Hockey Clinic
Ages: 3-6 years old

Skills: Basic Skating Technique, Striding, Edges, Stopping, Basic Shooting & Puck Control
Cost: $90
Puckmasters Premier 3-on-3 League
Dates: May 11-June 15 (Six Weeks)
Times: Tuesdays: Mites 7-8 pm, Squirts 8-9 pm
Description: Each team will consist of between 4-6 skaters and a goalie. Games will consist of two six-minute running time periods with a three-minute intermission. Each team will play three games per night. Each penalty assessed will result in a penalty shot. Referees and scorekeepers will be provided, as will team jerseys. Each team will play 15 games plus playoffs through the six-week season with the final week serving as a single game elimination playoff. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.
Cost: $350 per team. Players may register individually and we will make every effort to place you.

Three, 7-Week Sessions (Three, 90-minute sessions per week; 21 total sessions per phase)

This program is for designed serious high school and junior high school athletes interested in improving their speed, agility, strength and explosiveness on the ice. Players will combine plyometrics and free-weight training to achieve maximum growth! Emphasis will be given to improving flexibility and developing core body strength for the purposes of reducing the risk of injury and increasing performance. Players will train in small groups, will be closely supervised by trained professionals, and will learn the proper fundamental techniques for many of the olympic lifts used by professional and collegiate athletes. Each session will be limited to no more than 12 participants.
Cost: $175 per phase ($8.33 per 90-minute session!)
Friday Mid-day Open Stick Time
Puckmasters will also open its doors on most Fridays for a mid-day open stick time. It will be offered from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Cost will be $5 per player. Helmets are required. Please call for availability.
