?We?re very excited the Northstar selects have decided to return to Puckmasters for next season,? says General Manager and Hockey Director Pat Nugent. ?The Northstar Selects have a proven track record of developing top quality elite hockey players. Their decision to not only return, but to increase their commitment to our organization is a clear indication that their board members and coaches were satisfied with the results in their player?s development last season. I?m confident we can do even better next year.?
The Selects PeeWee Minor team, trained at Puckmasters through the 2005-06 season developing shooting, puck control, and checking skills. The 06-07 season will see four Northstar Select teams, the Bantam Minor, PeeWee Major and Minor along with the and the Squirt Major squads, train to develop those same skills. Puckmasters will also introduce an off-ice strength and speed development component which will incorporate plyometrics and various other training methods to improve balance, agility, and explosiveness.
In addition to team training, the Northstar Selects will also be utilizing Puckmasters for small group goalie training- an option which has also been utilized by several other local programs including: Triboro Youth Hockey and the New England Nighthawks. The Northstar selects will schedule between two and four goalies to train for one hour per week with one of the Puckmasters goalie coaches.
In total, the Northstar Selects will be training at Puckmasters for 100 hours next season. Their goalies will train for 20 hours, while their teams will train for 40 hours on the ProSpeed Resistance Skating Surface, and for 40 hours in the Puckmasters weight room.
