MARLBOROUGH, MA: General Manager and Hockey Director Patrick Nugent has announced the partnership between Puckmasters of Marlboro and Velocity Sports Performance of Sudbury?a nationally recognized industry leader in the field of Strength and Conditioning.
?We?re very excited about the possibilities this partnership presents,? says Nugent. ?Velocity Sports Performance has a proven track record of national success in developing elite athletes. Their staff will provide outstanding expertise while their facility will be a strong compliment to what we?re currently able to offer our athletes.?
With this new partnership, the structure of the highly regarded Off-Ice Strength & Speed Conditioning program has been slightly changed from recent years. Athletes will now train four days per week (Monday through Thursday) instead of three. Players can also chose from three different two-hour scheduling blocks (7-9 am, 9-11 am, and 5-7 pm) instead of two different 90-minute blocks. In addition, Velocity will host two days of the program (Tuesday and Thursday) each week at their 25,000 square foot training facility just off Rte. 20 in Sudbury?a short seven miles from Puckmasters. Training at Velocity on their 40-yard turf field will allow players to better address speed, agility and movement needs. Velocity will also staff each workout with their NSCA (National Strength Coaches Association) certified coaches which will enhance the credibility of the personnel and also lower the athlete to coach ratio. As always, Puckmasters Off-Ice Strength & Conditioning Program participants will have unlimited access to Pro-Speed Resistance Skating Surface shooting and stick-handling facilities during off-peak times.
As you approach the summer, it is important to remember to use your time wisely in preparation for next year. The off-season, when your body is most able to properly recover after workouts, is the best time for you to make significant strength gains, improve your athleticism, and reduce your risk of injury.
Limited spaces are still available in each of the three sessions. Cost for the 10-week program, which begins Monday June 19, is $600. To register, simply download the Spring/Summer ?06 Brochure complete the Clinic Registration Form and send it in with payment. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each group will be limited to no more than 12 participants. For more information, including directions to Velocity Sports Performance, you check them out online at www.velocitysp.com.
