HAMILTON EARNS HOCKEY EAST ROOKIE OF THE MONTH HONORS
Puckmasters coach earns second Hockey East accolade of 2007 season.
March 1, 2007
LOWELL, MA: Puckmasters coach and University of Massachusetts at Lowell goalie Nevin Hamilton has earned Hockey East Superskills Rookie of the Month Honors for his performance during February. It marks the second Hockey East accolade he has collected in recent weeks, having earned Player of the Week honors back on February 5th.
Hamilton, a 6-1 205 lb. tender out of Ashland, MA began the month by blanking BU in a 0-0 draw at Aganis Arena then snapped a 19-game River Hawk winless streak with a 2-1 win on the road against UMass Amherst. He went on to record three more consecutive wins, one against Northeastern (1-0) and two against the Warriors of Merrimack College (3-0 and 3-2).
In total, Hamilton recorded four shutouts in February and finished with a 4-2-1 overall record-the best stretch of the season for the Riverhawks. He finished the season, with a 4-6-1 overall record, a 2.28 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. The four-game win streak vaulted the Riverhawks out of the Hockey East cellar and into the late season playoff hunt. Unfortunately the UMass Lowell squad fell just short in the last weekend as they failed to qualify for the Hockey East post-season.
Congratulations to Nevin and River Hawks!
